Jordi Basevi Tomás
Audiovisual translator and linguistic advisor

Hello!
I am Jordi Basevi Tomás, a freelance translator since 2018, specialising in audiovisual translation, video game localisation, and linguistic consultancy.
Since 2019, I have also been a lecturer in the subtitling module of the Master's in Lifelong Learning in Audiovisual Translation at the European University of Valencia, where I share everything I have learned throughout my career.
My beginnings: from studies to the dubbing studio
I graduated in Translation and Interpreting from Universitat Jaume I (UJI) in 2017, but I began my professional career in 2016 in the Supervision department of SDI Media Madrid. That experience was key to understanding how the world of dubbing and professional subtitling works from the inside.
With the creation of the public Valencian radio and television (À Punt Mèdia) in 2018, I decided to become self-employed and contribute my bit to dubbing in Valencian. That same year, I obtained the homologation certificate as an external linguist from the Corporació Valenciana de Mitjans de Comunicació (CVMC).
What do I do today?
Translation and adaptation for dubbing and voice-over
Subtitling and SPS
Video game localisation
Review and LQA
General translation
I have participated in hundreds of works and collaborated in television and radio programmes.
Additionally, as part of my commitment to the industry and my constant desire to continue growing professionally, since 2023 I have been training as a voice actor.
Commitment to the profession
I am a professional member of ATRAE and DAMA, and I have had the honour of being part of the jury at the ATRAE Awards:
- Jury for voice-over at the XI ATRAE Awards (2023)
- Jury for subtitling at the XII ATRAE Awards (2024)
